The purpose of this study was to develop an understanding of the relationships
between principals and school culture. School culture is one of the most complex and
important concepts in education. The values and beliefs that make up organizational
culture are not just selected by chance or at random. They deal with the most
important and fundamental issues faced by people in schools.
This study serves as a start for further exploration of principals and school
culture. Educational scientists believe that principals play an important role in the
organization and operation o f schools. Most of these experts consider administrators
as the main source and the driving force for the organizational development and
academic growth of students.
In sum, principals must get to know the existing culture in their school to be
able to develop a direction and sense of school culture that will be necessary for
future success. School culture must be understood in terms of its effect on the student
achievement and teacher development before decisions about change and
improvements can be determined.
