The emergence ofW orld War J (1914) brought the occupation oj'NoviPazar by Austria - Hungaıy (19 o f November 1915) which resulted inepidemics, famine and destitution among its inhabitants. Despite o f theattenuation o f the population structure, Austria-Hungary made a strongpressure on the Müslim population o f Sanjak by representing the ongoingworldwide conflict (World War 1) as a “holy w a r” which aimed thedestruction o f the Ottomans and İslam by its enemies. By using the slogans“For creed and faith ” and “Eveıyone Turkish m us t check into the Volunteers ”dııring 1916, with the help o f local ağas and beys, a couple o f thousand ma/esat the ages between 18 and 50 were gathered and dispersed among thefrontlines spreading from Arabia to Galicia. Thus, a large number ofMuslimsapplied to ‘D urum lije” and joined the struggle because o f the OttomanEmpire had been an ally and foııght together with the Axis Powers (Germanyand Austria-Hungaıy) against Russia and other Allied (Entente) Arrnies.“Durumlije”, cımong their Austria-Hungarian military uniforms wore acrescent-star bandage alongside a tarboosh on their heads. They were beingbrought to the Galician frontline after a veıy short period o f militaryinstructions which never lasted longer than a month. A sınailer number o fthem i vere sent to the frontlines towards Arabia, while some o f them lost theirlives. Part became prisoners o f w ar and aftenvards most o f them continuedtheir lives in Turkey. Nevertheless, a small number o f 'D urum lije’' managedto return to Sanjak. After succeeding to return their destin i es were uncertain. After the conclusion ofW orld War 1 they faced repression and terror becauseo f their previous war engagement in the newly form ed Kingdom o f Serbs,Croats and Sloven es (1918).
This article studies the political and military activities o f Süleyman AskeriBey (1884-1915) in the Ottoman Empire. By examining his life story, this researchis an attempt to understand the following questions about Süleyman Askeri Bey: inwhat ways did the komitadji environment o f the Balkans where he grew up cometo influence his later years? Why was he chosen as the head o f the SpecialOrganization at a very young age? How was his relationship ilke with EnverPas ha? İn answering such questions, this article us es sources from the Archives ofthe Turkish Chief o f Staff as well as from the Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives, complemented by a select us e o f memories. I argue that the the informal structuresthat brough together a number o f patriotic offıcers during the Tripolitanian Waro f 1911 and the Balkan Wars o f 1912-13 were institutionalized into what was known as the Special Organization right before the First World War. Therebeüions in the Ottoman Balkans during the nineteenth century has contributeclto a growing sense o f insecurity shared by a number o f Ottoman administratorsand ojfıcers, including Süleyman Askeri. Throughout these years, ojfıcers like himwho deeply fel t the trauma o f an impending Ottoman collapse ran from one frontto another in multiple roles. It was in this context where Süleyman Askeri Beyspent the years o f 1912-1915 in Tripoli, the Balkans, and Iraq respectively. Withlow tolerance o f any failures, Süleyman Askeri Bey would commit silicide in 1915after his defeat in Iraq by the English forces.

The topic o f this piece o f work is the historical retrospective o f theOttoman civilization in the Balkans and its cultural and economic benefitsduring halfa millennium o f its presence in this geopolitical area and the EuroAsian piedmont. The paper presents those historical facts which deeply rootedin the life o f population o f the Balkans, and which are even noyvadays aProgressive legacy left by this great and remarkable commomvealth o fcivilization. In the second part o f this piece o f work, the author critically examinesthe theory o f the alleged clash o f civilizations, particularly the thesesimprovised by the American political scientist Samuel Huntington in his work"Clash o f Civilizations" (Zagreb, 1998). Based on historical diachrony, historyand syncretism o f cultures, economic processes and the world ideas, as w elias, highly-developed kuman consciousness, this piece o f work opposesHuntington and his thesis about the clash o f civilizations in the future, whichhe considers as the clash o f İslam with a whole world. Naturally, the origin o fthis theory is in the Middle East and in the latent extension o f the Cold War inthe projects o f enthroning Jews at the top o f the world. In the following part, the book o f the orientalist and the professor o fpolitical sciences Darko Tanaskovic is elaborated (Bgd., 2012) in which heelaborates the political and economic image o f the modern Turkey and itsInternational political-economic projects in becoming a member o f theEuropean Union. The aim is, fırst o f ali, to point out that the phenomenon o f the allegedneo-imperialistic aspirations o f Turkey towards the regions which oncebelonged to the Ottoman Empire should not constitute a proper framework ofindividual Balkan states towards the foreign policy strategy> o f modern Turkey. Thus, a realistic view suggests that Turkey's role in international relations isinevitable, and that it in the future, this country will increasingly position itselfas an active partner o f the Western Balkan states and the European Union.

Esad Bayram who was a writer, poet, educator, translator, journalistand politician was born in 1934 in Ohrid.
After the entry o f Ottomarı Empire into the territory o f the Rumeli, together with the İslam was entered and installed also the language and at thesame time the İslam culture, which are stili present. In the same w ay, theNaqshbandi, Mevlevi, Kadiri, Sa 'di, Rifai and particularly Bektashi sectswere expanded between the local population and in the towns and cities theybinit an undetermined number o f mausoleums and dervişh lodges called tekke,There are published less books and articles about the sects in Albaniaby comparison to the books and articles published in Balkan countries. W edon’t have almost nothing about the sects in Albania. It is ju st because o f therelations o f Albanian history with the Bektashi order, there are some booksand some articles published about them.W e get some knowledge about the expansion o f Bektashi orderespecially from the legends o f Sari Saltik - The Turkish - İslam missionary. Hislegends are talking about the fa ct how this sect became active, the dates o f itsduration, which dervish convents are built where, who is the grandfather, thefather; and who wrote how the piece o f art.The role o f Bektashi order in the religion, political and cultural life o fAlbanian people is signifıcant. Almost in every town it could be foundBektashilodge. But, unfortunately w e don’t have enough information about the numbero f this lodges in XVIII and X IX centuries. The Bektashi order in Albania has aparticular characteristics. The Bektashi order among the people in Albania isthe most liked and the most expanded sect. The Albanian people think that fo rthe expansion o f Bektashi order in Albania, the signifıcant role played the SariSaltik's legends andsagas. The history and the legend o f Sari Saltik need to be researched. Thereason o f this researches is the strength connections o f Bektashis and theBektashi order in the Balkans where Sari Saltik enjoys great respect.
